Church History

Built and established in 1920, King Solomon Baptist Church sits on a 5,514 sq ft lot. This is a beautiful example of a Neo-Gothic style building. The church is still active and an anchor for the community and different organizing groups across Philadelphia. For example, in May of 1970, the student senate of Cheyney University called a community meeting in the church regarding the overcrowding and poor conditions of the dormitories. The decisions made by the student protesters occurred over a few days within the King Solomon Baptist Church¹
